Born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, he studied at Leeds Performing Arts School and started out in musical theatre.

He is perhaps best known for his role as the quirky Connor Temple on ITV's science fiction programme Primeval. He also starred as the Hatter on the SyFy mini-series Alice and was a series regular on the long-running programme Ideal.

Most recently Andrew appeared in the BBC crime procedural By Any Means, a 6-parter about a team of elite cops and in Sky's latest adaptation of Dracula. Since 2006, Andrew has written and directed short films through his own production company. His sister, Sarah Jane is also an actor.
